Broom - where community matters

The voice of the estate

What is the Forum?

The Broom Community Forum was set up in the early 1990's as a partnership between

the local community and a range of public and voluntary agencies  who shared an interest in Broom.

Who are it's members?

The Forum is made up of:

  • Local Residents
  • Representatives from Fife Council
  • Glen Housing Association
  • Fife Constabulary

 What is the Forum doing?

The Forum's main purpose is :

  • To co-ordinate action across the Broom Housing Estate
  • To consult with the wider community and encourage community participation

The Forum has overseen the major regeneration programme which has taken place in Broom in recent years.   This has included significant physical improvements to housing and the surrounding environment, as well as  a range of social and community initiatives to improve the quality of life for local residents.

The estate has been transformed from a neighbourhood with a run down appearance and poor reputation to an attractive community where people are proud to live.

The Forum operates a Play and Youth Project  which promotes positive play and use of leisure time among children and young people in Broom.

The project holds community play sessions throughout the estate, while promoting good play in local primary schools.

Detached youth work is undertaken on the streets of the Broom estate by project staff, engaging with young people at neighbourhood meeting places.

The project also runs a youth drop-in facility during the winter months in partnership with Fife Council Community Services.  more >>
