The Broom Community Flat is situated on the upper floor of the Balmaise Centre.   It is a Fife Council Community Development Project which aims to support

  • families living in the Broom estate and
  • the development of community groups and activities which tackle local issues and concerns

RESPITE Creche

 


 

The Community Flat operates a respite creche three mornings each week.   While providing a safe an stimulating play experience for pre-school children parents are able to have a short break.

 

Trained and experienced childcare workers provide a varied programme of play opportunities suited to this age group in the community flat's dedicated playroom.

 

Monday and Thursday creches begin at 9.35 a.m. for children aged two years and over, while the Wednesday creche provides play for younger children aged 6 month to 2 years at 9.15 a.m.   All creches run for just under two hours each session.

Information & AdviceStaff at the Community Flat provide information and advice relating to a wide range of issues such as benefits, council services, community activities, housing.   There's always a friendly face and a warm welcome at the flat with someone to offer support in an informal setting.

Meeting Rooms

 

The Flat has meeting rooms where local community groups can meet

 


Community Group Support

 

Project staff provide support to new and existing community groups providing services within the

local community and meeting community need. This can involve assistance and advice with funding applications, developing the right skills to run a committee and local voluntary projects, employing and managing staff.   Many of the groups which appear on this website have been supported by the community flat staff.   If you have an idea about starting a new group which would help meet a local need drop in to the flat for a chat.

The Flat has a full-time Family Development Worker a part-time Information Assistant and  part-time creche workers.

 

 

Kevin Robertson, Family Development Worker is responsible for managing the project, overseeing family support and co-ordinating developmental support to community organisations.

Sandra Ball, Information Assistant provides administrative support to the project and community groups as well as offering information and advice to callers.

 

 

Laundry Service

 

Local residents can make use of the small laundry service for washing and drying clothes etc at the Community Flat.   A small charge is made to cover electricity costs.
